Tuesday Ten: Songs

Hello there and happy Tuesday!
Which means it is time for Tuesday Ten.

On Sunday I saw Pink, and this Sunday i'm seeing Beyonce (so excited!) so to celebrate this i'm making a rundown of my 10 favourite song of the moment.

1. Who Knew - Pink
I just absolutely love this song. Pink is just such an amazing talent and this song is so powerful.

2. Hurricane - Bridgit Mendler
She's a Disney star - blah blah blah. But I just think this song is super catchy.

3. Sacrilege - Yeah Yeah Yeah's
I've liked Yeah Yeah Yeah's for just a long time. I love how simple the lyrics are but so great at the same time.

4. Anna Sun - Walk the Moon
These guys supported Pink on her tour and I've heard this song around a lot so that made me happy.

5. Heart Attack - Demi Lovato
I have so much respect for Demi Lovato. She's been through a lot, and now she's pushing herself into her music and creating some really great songs.

6. Just Give Me a Reason - Pink & Nate Ruess
Pink again! I love this song and her voice. I could literally gush about this woman forever.

7. Hello! - Book of Mormon
I couldn't choose one song from this incredible musical. Every song is brilliant.

8. Lets Have a Kiki - Scissor Sisters
If I've had a bad song, for some reason this is the that i'll listen to and i'll feel instantly better.

9. Mirrors - Justin Timberlake
Oh Justin. I love you.

10. Love Is Easy - McFly
Just a beautiful song. By beautiful men.

So there you go. Looking at this, it's a pretty pop based list. But it's what I've been listening to at the moment.
Thank gosh for Spotify allowing me to change my music all the time, this is an ever-changing list.

Primark Mini Haul

Hi there!

I went to Primark yesterday and thought it might be lovely to do my first haul for you.

I only went in for a pair of black shoes for work, and came out with two pairs of shoes, a t-shirt, a phone case, and a purse. Whoops.

First up, the t-shirt (£5). It's is perfect for the sun we appear to be getting as it's very light and thin. The front is a flower pattern while the back (which I didn't take a picture of) is more of a see-through material.

The shoes on the left (£12) are just plain black, with a bow. Perfect for work as I can run around with the kiddies.
The shoes on the right (£8) are my new love. I've been eying them up for a little bit now but finally got them today. They're a lovely peep toe with bits cut out. I have really wide feet, and these are super comfy.

Finally, the phone case (£3) is a lovely pink colour. I've been looking for a cut out flower design like this for ages and it was a bargain!
The purse (£4 I think) is a navy blue with very pale pink spots. It's pretty big with lots of space for cards.

Sunday Social: Childhood

Morning!

Today is Sunday and I'm joining in with Sunday Social with Neely and Ashley. What a fun idea!

1. Did you sleepwalk as a child?
Not that I know of.

2. Did you ever try to run away or sneak out of your house?
No, but once I was 15 minutes late for my curfew so I turned my watch back to the time i should have been home and just claimed ignorance. It didn't work.

3. Did you have any imaginary friends?
Yes! Me and my best friend had an alien imaginary friend each. We even wrote books about them.

4. Did you ever go toilet papering?
Nope. I guess this is more of an American thing.

5. Did you ever sneak tv shows you weren't allowed to watch?
I'd sneak episodes of Sex and the City once my dad had gone to bed. That's when my love affair with Carrie Bradshaw started.

So there we go. My first Sunday Social.
I challenge you to get involved!

A Few Little Changes

As I only set up this blog a week ago I'm still in the process of little changes.

The name of my blog has changed to simply Margarita Rambles. No particular reason, just because I feel it suits the whole point of my blog more.

Also, I'm now starting to find my way around the layout and design of my blog so expect those things to change while I let my imagination take over!

While you're here, I've added buttons up the top linking to my twitter, instragram, bloglovin' and pinterest. Feel free to give me a follow or get in touch. It'd be lovely to hear from you :)

Book of Mormon, I Love You

I bought my boyfriend tickets for Book of Mormon back in October and the night finally came around last night.

It. Was. Amazing.

If you don't know about Book of Mormon (have you been living under a rock?!) it is the musical brain child of Matt Parker and Trey Stone (creators of South Park), and Robert Lopez (of Avenue Q). It premiered on Broadway in 2011 and since then has had a National US Tour, a residency in Chicago, and is now on the West End. It has won 9 Tony's to date (including Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical) and a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.

The vast majority of reviews for Book of Mormon are incredible, it has been hailed as "the filthiest, most offensive, and—surprise—sweetest thing you’ll see on Broadway this year, and quite possibly the funniest musical ever" (Vogue Magazine), and the New York Post reported that audience members were "sore from laughing so hard" (myself included).

It follows two young Mormon missionaries as they are sent to their destination and try to convert the locals to their religion. I love Team America and South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, so as you can imagine, I was super excited for this. It did not disappoint at all. The songs are catchy (I'm listening to the album right now), and the characters are hilarious. The two of us laughed the whole way through. There are some topics that I just don't think anyone but Parker and Stone could pull off (if you've seen South Park/Team America, you will know what I mean).

And just for you food lovers, here is my pudding from Yo Sushi before the show. This is one of my favourite things at Yo Sushi, and possibly one of my favourite puddings ever.

Yum!

So there you have it. Book of Mormon is incredible.

Are any of you planning on seeing it? Or have seen it already?

Franco Manca

As part of the idea that I haven't done enough in London as I should have, and fact that I always want to go to the same restaurants, we have started the 'Tuesday Club'.

Now, it doesn't actually have to be a Tuesday, but it happens every fortnight/monthly (that has yet to be decided). The idea is that we go to a new restaurant every time.

Yesterday was Franco Manca in Northcote. It is a pizza place that uses sour-dough and it is actually amazing. Everyone I was with rave about this place but I'm not a big pizza lover. However, I think I've been converted by this wonderful restaurant.

As soon as it opened there was a queue of at least 10 people so we did have to wait for about 10 minutes, and considering it was a Tuesday night that is pretty impressive! The waiter did bring us drinks to have while we were queuing so that is a plus!

Here's the menu.

The menu is quite simple; there are 6 pizzas to choose from. However, they do have a good list of extra toppings so that can make it more interesting. I chose 4 which was cured ham with mozzarella, and I added on some sun-dried tomatoes in place of mushrooms. I also stole half of my boyfriend's pizza which was chorizo.

I started eating before taking a picture because I was starving!

It's very rare that I eat the whole pizza, crusts and all. But this was one of those occasions. I just couldn't help myself! Everything about the pizza was just wonderful and although they have little (or no) tomato sauce on their pizzas, it really tasted delightful.

They also have a restaurant in Brixton Market, Stratford, and Chiswick so if you ever find yourself there with nowhere to eat... Well, you're welcome. Check out their website here.

Just a Small Confession...

"What's in the big box?" I hear you say...

Ta da!

It's my nail varnish collection! The box is from an old Body Shop gift set, but I found that it's just the perfect size to house my growing collection.

Some people are addicted to make up, hair accessories, bags or shoes. I will admit, I am known to buy bags or shoes on (not so) rare occasions.

But my real addiction is nail varnish. At last count I'm pretty sure I had 50+. The most insane part is that I have gel nails done every 2-3 weeks, so I actually don't need this many. But over the years, the collection has just grown.

Most of the nail varnish I own are either Barry M or Rimmel. Unlike Rimmel, I have never really used Barry M for my general make up needs, however I really rate both of these brands for nail varnish. They're so easy to apply and the colours come out really bright and beautiful.

Here are my four favourite nail varnishes...

Rimmel 600 Deliciously Dark;
Barry M 273 Raspberry;
Rimmel 500 Peppermint;
Rimmel 060 Hot & Spicy

Deliciously Dark is quite possibly my favourite ever nail varnish. It is a dark, rich purple colour that is so ridiculously beautiful. It's actually the colour I want my bridesmaid dresses in!
Raspberry is just a lovely rich berry colour that I love for everyday wear.
Peppermint for me, is more of a Spring/Summer colour so it is perfect for the sun we are (finally!) getting.
Hot & Spicy is more of toenail colour for me. It's orange/coral/somewhere  in between.

What are your favourite nail varnishes?

P.S. Please excuse the picture quality. This is the first post with my own pictures and all I am using is my digital camera.

Dog Days

I'm not sure how to start this post without sounding like a complete and utter mental.

I love am obsessed with dogs.

If there is a show on tv about dogs, I have probably seen it.
If there is an article on Buzz Feed about dogs, I have probably read it.
If there is a dog in the street, I would probably go and stroke it (if I didn't think the owner would think I am a little crazy).
It's basically a problem.

So today (and first on my list of London fun) was Battersea Dogs & Cat Home. Hoorah!

Now, Battersea to me is like Alton Towers to someone who loves rollercoasters; Heaven.

Except, it wasn't...

I spent the whole visit feeling very sad that these dogs do not have homes. I'm pretty sure I almost cried at every dog that gave me the sad puppy dog eyes.
Also, it is pure torture that you cannot stroke the dogs, or even touch them, which made me feel even worse. At one point I started saying "Sorry, I can't touch you" to the dogs.

We noticed that most of the dogs in there are Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Now I (as you probably have gathered) love all dogs, and I especially love a Staffie. They are absolutely beautiful and loving dogs with a bad reputation.

Battersea have launched a campaign called 'Staffies. They're softer than you think' which has been created in support of Staffies and to bring awareness to this wonderful breed.

If I ask one thing, it is that you take a look at what the campaign has to say here.

After my emotional time at Battersea I cannot wait til I live somewhere suitable for a dog, and I will be heading straight for the home to adopt!

Oh Hi There!

Welcome to the Ramblings of a New Londoner!

I am a primary school teacher who has moved to the Big Smoke for some new fun times with some old friends.

During an afternoon of sun and wine, my friends realised that, despite living here for 8 months, I have not yet properly experienced London and all the wonderful things it has to offer.

A list has been made of 50+ things that I haven't done and the aim is to get them done, although more will be added to the list as time goes by. You may look at this as an never-ending challenge.

Let the fun times begin!

Ciao for now.
