Tales from Thailand: Chiang Mai

So six weeks after we returned, I’m finally getting my last Thailand post up!

Chiang Mai  was the last place that we visited while in Thailand. And it was by far my favourite place. Not only was it just wonderful, a friend from uni lives there so it was lovely to catch up with her.

By far my favourite day was the day that this happened… Read all about it here!

Saying that, the rest of the time in Chiang Mai was absolutely fabulous. With my uni friend, we rented mopeds (I am loving the moped after this holiday!)  and took a trip up Doi Suthep which is a hill with a Buddhist temple on it. We took part in a lot of the worship and traditions up there which was really interesting. We were also blessed by a monk! I am absolutely in love with this place!

We also had a couple of nights out while we were there. On both we went to this amazing reggae bar in the backpacker area (although there was some boy drama to deal with but that happens anywhere in the world!).

And we also wandered the market, where we found some weird and wonderful things…

And finally… Look at this amazing plane and Ronald McDonald!

Another Late Sunday Social

Oh I just can’t keep up with life at the moment! I’ve had a new child in my class so I’ve come home exhausted every day. But here I am at 8pm on a Monday night, ready to get my blog on.

1. What is the first blog you ever followed?
I cannot even remember!

2. What was your first blog post about?
It wasn’t too long ago… I think i was just a sweeping introduction.

3. Who left you your first blog comment?
I don’t remember that either! I lost all of my comments when I switched from Google+ to Blogger so I can’t even have a look.

4. Who was the first blogger you ever met in person?
I’ve not been lucky enough to get to that point yet, but maybe one day!

5. What was your first “blogging milestone?”
For me, it was getting to 50 posts and not giving up. I’d tried before and didn’t get past a day so I was super proud of myself.

Thanks for stopping by Smile And see you next Sunday!

Back in the Day [Sunday Social]

11 Prom
1. What were you like in middle school and high school?
I was so very shy. I kind of got on with everyone and just didn’t cause trouble. I think I had one or two detentions in my whole life!

2. What were your favorite pastimes?
Theme Hospital. I loved sitting there and playing it!

3. What songs were you obsessed with?
Anything by NSync. It’s one of the things I listened to the most.

4. What fashion statement do you look backing and cringe?
Massive jeans – those really wide legged ones! I don’t have a picture to share but trust me you don’t want to see them!

5. Who was your celeb crush?
I can’t remember (that’s not because it was embarrassing – I just have no idea!).

6. What was your favorite movie?
I loved A Walk to Remember and Jawbreaker.

The Perfect Venue?

If you’ve been keeping up with me lately, you’ll have seen that I’m recently an engaged woman. Weeeeee! It’s all so exciting! I’ve officially asked my two bridesmaids, and they’ve agreed, and we’ve already started looking at guests. We have a provisional date that is not until May 2015 so we’re not full into the planning yet.

But. We have already been to a venue. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! I’d seen pictures and loved it already but when we got there I was in awe. I could picture my whole day there, from walking down the aisle, to the yummy dinner, and to the dancing and drinks at the reception.

The venue is Tythe Barnin Oxfordshire. We drove down on Saturday straight from Birmingham (and it wasn’t a long journey – bonus for the Brummie fam), and we noticed a Premier Inn near the venue (double bonus for people that will need to stay). We parked and there was a nice orchard that they were pumping some music into. My first thought: opportunity for beautiful wedding day pictures.

Then you turn the corner and are greeted by this lovely courtyard. Perfect for pre-ceremony drinks, I think you would agree.

Then there is the back where, and now we need to pray that it’s a sunny May day, the ceremony would be held. I’ll walk down the middle in my lovely dress, and stand where the camera is. And everyone will look at me in awe of me and my wonderful dress.

While we’re off having our pictures the guests can mill around and have a glass of bubbly (Bucks Fizz of course). The venue offer lawn games so they can enjoy some Jenga, Connect 4, and more! They will have use of the inside and out of this area, while being serenaded by a band that will be in the room in the second picture – the doors open so everyone can hear them.

And then there is the meal. I’m going to take this opportunity to tell you that Tythe Barn use Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts which is one of the things that drew me towards this particular venue. I’ve had a look at the options and they are all absolutely mouth watering and so much choice. We’ve not decided on the actual meal we definitely are having a hog roast during the evening. Here’s the inside where the meal will be (we’re having tables of 8 rather than these banquet tables).

That’s all the photos I have. Isn’t it stunning? I’m in love! It is slightly more expensive than we were hoping but you can’t put a price on the perfect day… Now just to convince the other half that that’s true and get it booked!

I’m so excited to be sharing my wedding planning journey with you all. If you have any suggestions or advice, send them my way please!

If you want more information about Tythe Barn, here’s the website.
