The Movies [Sunday Social]

Hello! Welcome to another Sunday. It’s been a nice, but busy weekend, with birthdays, meals out, karaoke, and bowling! This is the first time I’ve been able to just sit down and relax all weekend.

1. What is your favorite thing to watch on a girls night?
I will be happy with any sort of rom-com… Something like Failure to Launch will always entertain me.

2. What is your favorite thing to watch on your day off?
I’ve been blitzing through Breaking Bad recently. I’m not sure what to watch when I’m done!

3. What is your favorite thing to watch when you're sick?
Something funny that will cheer me up. Mean Girls  is always a good option.

4. What is the last movie you saw in the theater?
I’m going to go with Frozen. I absolutely love that film and I’m gutted I keep missing the sing-a-long versions!

5. What are your top three favorite movies or tv shows?
TV: Breaking Bad, Parks and Rec, Brooklyn Nine Nine
Films: Closer, Frozen, Despicable Me (these constantly change though!)
BreakingBad
Closer_movie_poster

And there we have it! Next Sunday it will be the start of the half term, and I can’t wait!

4 [Sunday Social]

Remember when I said that I wanted to blog more in 2014? That resolution isn’t going so well… Anytime I sit at my computer to tidy up the posts I have almost ready to post, I think about all my planning for school and get caught up in that! Bring on half term I say.

1. 4 Favorite bands you loved in high school
I was boyband obsessed. I loved NSync, Backstreet Boys, Take That, and Boyzone.

2. 4 go to meals you'd love to learn to cook or can cook really well
I cannot cook so this question is completely lost on me!

3. 4 necessities to your daily life
My phone (so materialistic!), friends, hand cream (especially during these cold months), and my bag.

4. 4 makeup necessities you must have if you could only have 4 on
Mascara, lippie, and some sort of cheek colour. I can’t think of anything for my fourth.

5. 4 favorite apps on your phone or iPad
Bridges, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

And there we are for another Sunday. I'd love to say "See you in the week" but we all know that there is no point in getting our hopes up until half term (which is two weeks away) where I will spend my whole week preparing posts to last me through the next part of the term. Hopefully.

Now, I'm off to a Superbowl party! Woohoo! Enjoy your Superbowl Sunday friends.

Hair and Beauty [Social Sunday]

And we’re back for another Sunday Social. I’m feeling very tired, and I can’t switch my brain on to say something meaningful here. So I’m going to get on with it…

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
I wore nail varnish ridiculously early. But face make up didn’t come until about 15/16 (I was too scared to get in trouble at school and I wore glasses so I didn’t see the point).

2. What are your top 3 favorite beauty products?
I love my Rimmel Apocalips in Big Bang, Maybelline Falsies Mascara, and my Sleek Blush in Rose Gold.

3. What is one makeup product you don't leave home without?
I don’t wear make up on a daily basis (a mixture of teaching and glasses just means I can’t be bothered in the mornings!), so I always make sure to have some sort of lip balm with me.

4. What is your daily beauty routine?
I brush mousse through my hair, and dry with a diffuser to bring out my curls. Then I use a selection of Botanics products on my face (cleanser and toner), and finish with some moisturiser.

5. What is your favorite hair/makeup product you've discovered in the last year?
I love two things, both for my hair. First, my Panasonic Nanoe hairdryer (it makes it so shiny!), and my BaByliss Big Hair Spinning Brush (it helps to tame my frizzy mess, and make is nice and bouncy).

And there we go. Another Sunday is almost over… Until next week!

A Challenge for You… 100 Happy Days

I’m not sure how many of you have seen this, or even taking part in it but it’s something that I have been doing for a week now. Not only is it making me Instagram more, I’m also noticing those little things in life that make you happy.

100HappyDays

As they say on the website, 71% of people don’t complete the challenge. Why not pop over there, see what it’s all about and then see if you can complete it.

I’m off to a charity quiz night shortly. So I will update this post with my first 7 days once a) I have returned and b) I’ve worked out how to get Instagram pictures into my post (any help would be greatly appreciated).

Rule of Three [Sunday Social]

Hello, hello, hello! What a week it’s been. I was sent home from work on Monday and then on Wednesday I achieved a 1stone weight loss (so far!!!). Hooray! AND I bought a few size 14 tops, which I’ve not worn for quite a few years. It’s all so exciting.

Now onto Sunday Social (with a fancy new button)…

1. Top 3 favorite kinds of food
Chocolate (obvs), Italian, and tapas.

2. First 3 things you do in the morning
Check Facebook & Instagram, grab my glasses, and snooze my alarm (for at least half an hour).

3. Last 3 things you do at night
Check Facebook & Instagram (addicted?), plug my phone in, and play some sort of game on the iPad.

4. 3 TV shows you NEVER miss
Parks and Rec (love a bit of Leslie), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (has anyone watched it? I love!), and Pretty Little Liars (I can’t seem to work anything out, who is A?!).

5. 3 places you want to visit
New York, New York, and New York!

6. 3 people you can always count on
My lovely mum, and my two lovely bridesmaids.

And there we are. Sunday Social is done for another week. See you next time!

Reintroductions [Sunday Social]

Hello there! And welcome to the second Sunday Social of 2014… We’re 12 days in and I am still writing 2013 in the date at school. Speaking of school, it’s 7pm and I’ve had the realisation I have planned nothing for the coming week (actually, I’ve planned half a lesson about Ancient Egypt – give myself some credit) so I’m now on a mad rush. Sorry kids!

1. What is the name of your blog? How long have you been blogging?
My blog is called Margarita Rambles and I’ve been blogging (not very consistently) since April 2013.

2. Why do you blog?
I started as a way to make myself do more London things (that never happened) because I planned to write about this new London life I was experiencing. Then it just changed into something that allows me to just sit here and write about whatever I want, without having to listen to anyone.

3. What is the first blog you ever followed?
I’ll have to get back to you on that one.

4. What is your favorite post you wrote in 2013?
Probably my Elephants and Engagements post because it takes me back to a wonderful day!

5. What are your blogging goals for 2014?
BLOG MORE! Seriously, I really want to make more of an effort with this blog because sometimes I just forget, or I don’t give myself the time to do a proper post.

6. Top 3 favorite blogs to follow?
Ah the pressure for this one! I have to admit I’ve not even looked at any blogs recently so I’m going to update this when I’ve had a chance to get involved!

Happy Sunday Smile

Bridesmaid/Usherette Cards

I’m back with some more wedding talk… Hooray! Even though the wedding is far, far away, I am trying to get some minor things sorted.

One of the those, that I did over the weekend, was my bridesmaid and usherette cards. I’ve decided to have two bridesmaids, and three usherettes for the day. I’ve already asked them informally but I thought it’d be nice to ask them formally too. So here’s way I did.

Bridesmaid Cards

I nipped to my local stationary shop to stock up on resources… I got some silver glitter paper, pink paper (our colour sheme is grey and pink), some little ribbons, and some cream card. I also got an italic pen to write the envelopes with.

I’m not going to go through it, because I think it’s pretty self explanatory. But  wanted to share them because I love them! I really hope the girls like them too… Here’s hoping.

The Year to Come [Sunday Social]

Oh here we are again. Today is the last day of the Christmas holidays before it’s back to school tomorrow. I don’t think I’m quite ready (I’m actually scrambling to get all my planning done…).

But there’s always time for a little Sunday Social…

1. Do you plan to change any of your eating habits in the new year?
I started Slimming World a few months ago to get ready for wedding dresses, so I’ve already started. I’ve started eating a lot more fruit and vegetables with my meals and it’s helped a bunch.

2. Any workout tips to get us back in shape after the holidays?
I am most definitely not the person to go to for this. However I’ve been doing a Davina McCall fitness DVD which is incredible.

3. What is your favorite thing you did over the holidays?
I just spent time with family and friends, which I don’t get to do much in term time. Nice and relaxed.

4. What is something you hope that you accomplish in 2014 that you did not in 2013?
I’d like to get back into blogging! And try to establish myself just a little bit more.

5. Name 3 things happening this year you are excited about and why.
I’m heading to Chile to see my family in Summer!!!
I’ll officially finish (and hopefully pass) my first full year of teaching.
General wedding planning.

There we go. I’ll be back next Sunday when it’s all about blogging.

New Year [Sunday Social]

Here’s to the last Sunday Social of 2013!

1. What is the best New Years Eve you've ever had?
For the past four years we’ve been to a friends flat down the road and they’re always super fun!

2. Are you doing anything for NYE this year and if so what?
This year instead of a house party, we’re heading to Camden to see Craig Charles DJ. Should be interesting!

3. Name a book we should all read come January?
Anything by Dorothy Koomson. She’s such a wonderful writer.

4. What are your new year's resolutions?
I stopped making resolutions years back! I find I keep to them if  don’t plan them (if that makes sense!).

And there we have it. See you in 2014!

A Boxing Day Sales Shop

Christmas has come and gone for another year. It’s time to get ready to put away those Christmas trees, cards and decorations. But it’s also time to hit those sales. I’m not so great in big crowds so I just head to our small selection of shops down the road to see what I could find.

New Look

New Look

I got myself two things in New Look; the beautiful lacy top on the left (£22.99 £7) and the red canvas style trainers (£11.99 £5). I have a love of everything with lace so as soon as I saw this I knew that I needed it; it can be paired with jeans for a casual look and heels for a night out.

Boots

100_2744 edit

My new obsession is Soap and Glory so I couldn’t let these lovely sets go without grabbing them. On the left is Crazy Sexy Kohl (£18 £9) and Powder Trip (£20 £10) on the right.

Crazy Sexy Kohl

The Crazy Sexy Kohl  kit has five Smoulder Kohl pencils in Superblack, Cocoa Bean, Aquabat, Blue My Mind, and Grapevine. I absolute love these; they have a lovely creamy texture that makes them easy to apply and smudge for a more subtle look. Add one of the three Lid Stuff shadows (in Aubersheen, Smokin’ or Dandy Plum) for a lovely smoky look.

Powder Trip

The Powder Trip set includes the Solar Powder Multi Shade Bronzer (bottom left), the Love at First Blush Multi Shimmer Blushing Powder (top right) and the Blow All Out Illuminating Face Powder (top left), as well as a Handy Half-Moon Powder Brush and a humongous mirror to help you apply on the go. I like to be quite subtle with my make up so I find these really handy to add a little bit of shimmer to my look.

TK Maxx

TK Maxx

I know that this wasn’t technically a sale item but as TK Maxx is always cheaper I’ve included this lovely Raymond Waite’s Storage Bin (£6.99). I bought this especially to hold all my larger styling tools by my bed so they#re not just hanging out on the floor ready for me to tread on.

That is all for my Boxing Day shopping. On the few things I bought I should have spent £79.97 but actually spent £37.99. Fabulous!

The Holidays Have Begun [Sunday Social]

Hooooray! It’s officially the Christmas holidays and boy am I exhausted from my first term of being a real life teacher. But the holidays means that I am getting back into my blogging, finally! But for now, let’s get into the last Sunday Social before Christmas.

1. What is your favorite holiday season tradition?
We always go and do Christmas Eve with my family and then Christmas Day with W’s family.

2. Do you have a certain holiday movie you watch more than others? If so what is it?
We watched Polar Express at school the other day and I forgot how wonderful that film is.

3. Show us your favorite decoration or pinterest decoration you wish you could have.
I love my little owl!
Christmas Decoration

4. What is your favorite holiday song?

5. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Does trifle count as a holiday desert?

6. What is on your wish list this year?
Wedding money!

And that’s it. Stay tuned to see the lovely things I've been buying in the run up to Christmas, and some of my favourites from the year.

Christmas Cheer [Sunday Social]

Aloha! Is everyone starting to feel Christmassy yet? I sure am! I have my tree up, and I’m preparing my Christmas lessons for next week. It’s all so exciting!

1. What is your favourite Holiday Movie/TV Special?
I love Elf. Who doesn’t?!

2. Do you do any volunteering during the holidays if so what? If not what would you do?
I don’t no… But I really would love to do something. I think that next year (once I’ve settled into teaching and don’t have so much to do) I’ll get involved.

3. What is your favourite toy received as a child for the holidays?
I genuinely can’t remember. I think it was a toy dog that had puppies. It was wonderful, I took it everywhere!

4. What was your must have item in high school for the holidays?
I don’t remember this one…

5. What do you do on Christmas Eve?
I’m half Chilean, so all of my mums side of the family are over there. I go to her house and we open presents, eat dinner, and Skype with the Chileans.

Just a little insight to my Christmas… I’m on my last week of term next week so after Friday I’’'ll have my life back for two weeks!

The Return of Sunday Social

Hello there!

Can you believe that it’s December already?! It’s been such a busy few weeks that I’ve struggled to actually get to my laptop to sit and do work, let alone do some blogging.

1. What is the wallpaper on your cell phone?
It’s cream with some flowers at the bottom. Nothing special, just very pretty.

2. What do you keep beside your bed?
Glasses, books, lamp, ring, hair dryer, brush, and mousse.

3. What is your least favorite chore?
Cleaning the kitchen. I really hate it!

4. If you could eliminate one thing from your daily routine, what would it be?
Sorting my hair out. It would be wonderful if I could just snap my fingers and it’s dry and fancy.

5. What do you do to vent anger?
Talk to a friend. They must get fed up of listening to me moan!

6. What is your favorite holiday of the year and why?
Christmas. Once it gets closer I remember how much I love it.

And there we go. I keep promising that I’m back on the blogging, but with only a few weeks left at work, I’m definitely going to make more of an effort!

This or That Tag

Because Sunday Social this week is all about Thanksgiving, and I am not American (although a move to America might be on the cards on day) I decided to do something else this Sunday. I saw this post on Sarah's Little World. It’s a chance to get to know me just that little bit better.

Make up;

1. blush or bronzer – Blusher. I used to be a bronzer all over but I am now a convert to blush.
2. lip gloss or lip stick – Lipstick. Always.
3. eyeliner or mascara – I’m more partial to mascara. I have long lashes anyway so I like to make them a focus.
4. foundation or concealer – Foundation. I don’t get many spots so it’s easy to cover them up with all over foundation.
5. natural or coloured eyeshadow – Natural. I don’t think I’ve worn coloured eyeshadow since I was 16!
6. pressed or loose eyeshadow – Pressed eyeshadow (although I used to be obsessed with those Barry M Dazzle Dusts when I was younger).
7. brush or sponge – I love the Real Techniques brushes. I swear by them whenever I do any make up now.

Nails;

1. opi or china glaze – Netither.
2. long or short – Mine are somewhere in the middle. They break easily though so I always have to cut them so they’re the same.
3. acrylic or natural – Natural now, gels not too long ago.
4. bright or dark – Both. I love a pastel colour, but I also love a deep red.
5. flower or no flower – No flower.

Body;
1. perfume or body splash – Body splash. I carry one in my bag, always.
2. lotion or body butter – Lotion. I’m using a delicious Soap and Glory one at the moment.
3. body wash or soap – Body wash, I don’t like the squeeky feeling that the soap leaves.
4. lush or other – Other. I’ve never really got into Lush.

Fashion;

1. jeans or sweat pants – Jeans. I will only wear sweat pants around the house. I say sweat pants, I mean pyjamas.
2. long sleeves or short sleeves – Long sleeves (unless it’s really hot).
3. dress or skirt – Dresses. So much easier!
4. scarves or hats – I have an impressive array of both.
5. studs or dangling earrings – Neither. I let me ear piercings close up pretty much the month after I had them done.
6. necklace or bracelet – Either, but only on an occasion, not every day.
7. heels or flats – Flats in the day, heels on a night out.
8. cowboy boots or riding boots – Neither.
9. jackets or hoodies – Both. If it’s extra cold I’ll put on a hood ie under a jaket.
10. forever 21 or charlotte russe – Neither.

Hair;
1. curly or straight – Curly. It suits me much better.
2. bun or ponytail – Both. Depends how it turns out really.
3. bobby pin or butterfly clips – Bobby pins. I always find loads around my house because I never put them in the same place.
4. hairspray or gel – Hairspray.
5. long or short – Long hair.
6. dark or light – Dark, but I have ombre ends.
7. side swept bangs or full bangs – Side swept. I wear glasses so I don’t think I suit a full bang.
8. up or down – Down. But you know when I’m in a serious mood at work because I’ll put it up!

Random;
1. rain or shine – Both!
2. summer or winter – Winter is more cosy.
3. fall or spring – Fall is pretty, but there is something about spring that feels lovely.
4. chocolate or vanilla – Chocolate. Full stop.

And there we have it, a little more about me. I’m excited to be back into blogging so I’ll see you all soon.

P.S Sorry for a lack of pictures, I'm on my new laptop (it's touchscreen - ooooh fancy!) and I need to swap my pictures onto here.

A Well Deserved Break

Aloha!

I have been incredibly absent from blogging in the last month. It’s been busy with work, and half term was spent in Italy for a friend’s wedding.

This is just a quick note to say that, from Sunday, I will be back and raring to go with the blog.

See you then Smile

Tales from Thailand: Chiang Mai

So six weeks after we returned, I’m finally getting my last Thailand post up!

Chiang Mai  was the last place that we visited while in Thailand. And it was by far my favourite place. Not only was it just wonderful, a friend from uni lives there so it was lovely to catch up with her.

By far my favourite day was the day that this happened… Read all about it here!

Putaringonit (2)_opt

Saying that, the rest of the time in Chiang Mai was absolutely fabulous. With my uni friend, we rented mopeds (I am loving the moped after this holiday!)  and took a trip up Doi Suthep which is a hill with a Buddhist temple on it. We took part in a lot of the worship and traditions up there which was really interesting. We were also blessed by a monk! I am absolutely in love with this place!

We also had a couple of nights out while we were there. On both we went to this amazing reggae bar in the backpacker area (although there was some boy drama to deal with but that happens anywhere in the world!).

And we also wandered the market, where we found some weird and wonderful things…
